THE KITCHEN is out in movie theaters today! honored to be making my feature film debut as 'prostitute #1'-- she may not have any lines, but her stack perm is on point. be sure to catch this badass film created by an amazing team of women!
super duper thrilled to be starting rehearsals for jaclyn backhaus's new play WIVES at playwrights horizons. i've been a huge fan of her's since i picked my jaw up off the floor after MEN ON BOATS in 2016, and playwrights has been on my bucket-list since i was a wee, fresh new yorker. the rest of the team is amazing, too. running august 23rd- october!
"In this kaleidoscopic comedy, Jaclyn Backhaus pushes past patriarchal cliché to reach an ecstatic breakthrough, untethering stories and history-and language itself-from the visions made by men."
and i'm please as punch to announce that i'll be a guest singer at lea delaria's upcoming Joe's Pub show on valentine's day, aptly titled 'F*ck Love'. 930pm on february 14th, mother lovers. tix HERE. i might be singing some queen while wearing a diaper. just a possibility.
i also just had the honor of being one of the audiobook narrators for susan choi's highly anticipated upcoming novel, trust exercise. it's beautiful and confusing and hit me hard, and i can't wait for it to be released in april!
more news coming up for this summer, but can't spill the beans quite yet. but when they do spill, they will be seven-layer-dip-level delicious.
next up, i'm jazzed to be part of the world premiere of EDDIE AND DAVE at the Atlantic Theatre Company, opening this january. i'll be playing the male drummer of a band that may or may not sound something like 'zan flagen' and may or may not have iconified the haircuts you see on the poster below.
also, i'm working behind the scenes in production and fundraising for my theatre company's (OLD SOUND ROOM) NYC premiere of THE INFINITE HOTEL, also this january. it's a Live Feature Film-- part narrative theatre, part rock show, part trans-media prayer for oneness-- and a truly groundbreaking work of art that i'm so thrilled to be a part of!
ya'll... dreams come true. making the approval matrix (and into the highbrow/brilliant quadrant, no less!) has been a dream of mine since i moved to new york, and i am crying as i check it off the list. thank you NYMag!!!
